1 AIGA gives me a global perspective on Design and a role that I can aspire grow into. In a smaller market like Reno/Tahoe I might be working on a Website one minute, a TV spot the next, then an Identity the next. It is difficult to specialize or to focus on the future. The AIGA community does that for me.

We are a two person shop and our commitment and connection to AIGA gives us a global perspective.

Amazing designers constantly remind me of how young and inexperienced they once were. It keeps me hopeful and moving forward. They remind me of how much I matter in this world.

As an evolving member in AIGA Wisconsin and now a new member to the communication committee I have more inspiration than ever before.

One step at a time I am influenced to make a bigger footprint on the design community. AIGA enabled me to become not only a better designer but has opened up endless possibilities to my career and connections.

Through my design career I thrive to be a mentor to others, through AIGA I have and will continue to make an impact on my community.

As members we all work towards the same vision of AIGA one speaker, one event, one member at a time.

Being a new member to the AIGA Wisconsin Communications Committee, I never knew how great of an impact a single person could have on an entire community. After getting to experience just a glimpse of the “behind the scenes” process, I can truly say that it is the motivation, inspiration and ideas of individuals that make any organization, especially AIGA, such a success. Everyone works together, but each member has a voice.

Being a professional designer comes with many client misconceptions. Being a member of AIGA has provided me with the tools and resources to defend and document the various issues that frequently come up. (i.e. release of master files, copyright laws, third party materials, spec work, etc). I feel that my clients take my stance on these issues more seriously when I can back them up with literature and are less likely to think I’m just trying to be difficult.

One of my favorite ways to pass time is to peruse the design archives on AIGA and read the various articles to stay current on the trends and ever-changing role we play as designers.

I got cheaper Pivot tickets.

Yep, I got a discount in Pivot tickets and I ended up paying $100 less than non-member pricing. Hoorah for AIGA!

I like to interact with like minded creatives and the best way to meet up and share ideas is through AIGA. AIGA gives me the opportunity to help other designers and to continually learn. Thanks AIGA.

I was tired of professional organizations that focused more on networking and socializing than giving me content that was useful in my profession. AIGA inspires me to keep improving my work, and keeps my passion alive for design.

If it was not for Jenna H., I wouldn’t even know about AIGA.

Last semester, I stepped out of my bubble and joined the university advertising club. I didn’t know what I was doing or know anyone there. I did know that I wanted to become involved so I started going to all the meetings and events. I think because of my commitment to the club, Jenna, the president, sent me a personal e-mail and invited me to one of the AIGA events. So I went.

I realized that AIGA was a community that I wanted to become involved with so I made it my goal to get over my shyness and become apart of something more, something with meaning.

I am very glad I have joined AIGA. It has not only opened by eyes to the design world and allowed me to meet other people in the community but it allowed me to do what Jenna did for me and that was to get other people involved in such a great thing. Thanks Jenna!

I joined AIGA as a sophomore in college. There was no student group, barely even a chapter in Reno/Tahoe. None the less, I joined and immediately saw the benefits.
My favorite part then, was getting the AIGA books in the mail and browsing the book cover design archives. It made me realize how much I wanted to be a designer. I wanted to do that.

I now am an award winning designer under the direction of great people and friends from the Reno/Tahoe chapter. I have made valuable connections with people all over the world and I thank AIGA.
