It wasn’t until my senior year of college that I really became serious about becoming an active member of AIGA. Starting almost immediately, I started participating in the monthly meetings that were held at the nearest chapter location, which for me was over an hour away. That didn’t stop me from being an active member of my chapter. Because of AIGA, I can say that I became better at networking and meeting new people; was able to get my work online in a digital portfolio; motivate my classmates to do what it takes to become better designers, and overall, meet a circle of great friends who not only share a common interest with me, but have also been active in helping me to reach the position I’m at now.
Because of AIGA, I was able to land my first official graphic design job less than a week after I graduated from college! Thank you AIGA!
