AIGA has connected me with other designers, developers, writers, photographers, and even clients. Several freelance projects have come through exposure on the AIGA site, as well as my very first real design job. AIGA is an incredible resource for creative professionals.

AIGA is an organization of talented, passionate people. That is what really makes a difference. The ability to connect with other like-minded people is invaluable, and enriches not only our careers, but our personal lives as well.

I found my current job.

I became a mentor, a provider, a leader. And it wasn’t the work, or the discipline of graphic design that made it worthwhile, it became about the people, for it always was about the people and the AIGA allowed me to see that.

Then i passed on the torch to my compeers because it was easy to see the light from where they were. And soon enough they forgot about mistakes because once you have the light you can only use to it to see what lies ahead.

Have constant source of inspiration.

I have the opportunity to attend great lectures and hear the whys and hows of how people like Maira Kalman and Sam Potts do what they do so well. I have articles to read and ponder. I have archives to search for inspiration. I have resources for learning how to make my design practices more sustainable.

More practically, I have health insurance. I have a job board to search in this very rough economy. I have a member directory to search and put me in touch with other like-minded creatives in my area.
