Wake-up Call to Bad Design.

1
Attending AIGA events, after taking a long break from AIGA, was an excellent wake-up call to the fact that I’d gotten lazy and my design/creativity skills had suffered. The moment I realized that, I felt inspired to change, and since then, I’ve been taking on freelance projects and attending more AIGA events, to boost my creativity. AIGA really helped remind me of the core design values I had forgotten over the years of working in a secluded box as an in-house designer. It was refreshing to attend AIGA events and see examples of great design. Even the student works from the local colleges were amazing. It just reminded me of what design should be, and that was sadly lost in my in-house job.

In your opinion, what are some of the things that contribute to everyday bad design? I’ve been freelance most of my life, and the disconnect between stuff you see when you hang around AIGA and the stuff you see in the real world has always intrigued me. Here’s my recent post on the subject: http://littleshiva.com/blog/everyday-bad-design/
